what's the difference between a clairvoyant and telepathic abilities?

Someone told me once that I might be hypersensitive because I can read people’s emotions really well. Does that mean I’m clairvoyant?

In Parapsychology, clairvoyance refers to the ability to see something that would not be visible using normal perceptions. For example, if you can see something in another room, in a locked safe, or in a sealed envelope, that is considered to be clairvoyant. A similar ability is called clairaudiance where a person is able to hear something that would not be heard with normal perception.

Telepathy is mind to mind communication between individuals. Knowing emotions could be considered a form a telepathy, but in order to demonstrate that it is telepathy and not reading a person’s body language or facial expressions, you would have to be able to demonstrate this ability when that person is not visible to you. Some people consider knowing the emotions of others to be "empathic", but this is not a term that is used in Parapsychology. Empathy is a normal human ability and part of every person’s emotional and personality development, and the ability to empathize with a person does not imply any psi ability.

BTW, knowing the future is called precognitions, and knowing the past is called retrocognition.

Clairvoyance would imply knowing what other people are feeling; telepathy would imply knowing what they are thinking. Neither of them have ever been shown to exist beyond the normal human ability to interpret facial expressions, body tension, and know our friends well.

No, that would mean you are observant and good at interpreting people’s body language and facial expressions. Clairvoyant usually means you can see the future – something which nobody can do and telepathic means that you can read people’s minds, which is equally impossible.

hypersensitive usually is a bad thing. Touchy, in common language. Too easily insulted.
    So they misused the word.
    It does NOT mean clairvoyant.
Clairvoyant would be the any paranormal perceptional ability such as ability to see a person’s past, or future, or any other thing not not normally perceptible by normal means.
Telepathic ability is limited to mind-to-mind communication without normal physical means.

Picking up on other people’s emotions more strongly then the average person is usually considered to be empathic – or an empath.

A clairvoyant is someone who sees images in their mind about the future or other events that they could not normally know about through traditional methods.

Some people are one or the other, some can be both. And of course some are neither.

    I hope that helps!

You are highly emapthic or an empath. You should try to read people’s emotions online. That’s a really neat trick, and definitely outside the definition of simple empathy. Also, try to read the energy of a particular place or objects. This is called psychokinesis. You might be what some call a sensitive.

  • I'm just me says:

No, clairvoyance is "sight"—having visions, dreams, etc. IOW, it’s visual. Telepathy is hearing other people’s thoughts. Clairsentience is the ability to feel other people’s emotions (this is also called "empathy").

reading people’s emotions isn’t necessarily a psychic ability. You can actually train yourself to do this just by learning to be more observative. It’s FEELING other people’s emotions that would give you a psychic ability.
